Love Yourself – Water Fasting for Spiritual Growth and Manifestation

keep calm and love yourselfWhen I was in high school, I would fast 2 days per week, beginning on Monday morning and ending Wednesday morning.  I did not eat, I only drank water and tea.  At first, it was a little difficult, but I was young and had more stamina and will power than I do today.  But, I have to say it actually made me feel better and I had more energy while doing it.  It really doesn’t take long to feel the benefits.

My advice today, is to LOVE YOURSELF by taking the time to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  Water fasting is a good start.

What is water fasting?

It is disciplining yourself to give your body a break from digesting food for a predetermined amount of time.

Why fast?

Fasting allows your body to stop and reset. It clears your system of excess toxins and overload and allows it time to heal.  During the fasting phase, your body is releasing everything it has stored in the past including stored fat, waste products, bacteria, viruses, and parasites in order to eliminate them from your body. Over time, you consume and absorb these toxins without appropriating enough time to eliminate them.  Yes, your body goes into a fasting state at night while sleeping but 6-8 hours really isn’t enough time to clear the body and allow it to recover and repair itself.  This is especially true if you have not drunk enough water during the day to flush the toxins so many of us consume today due to all of the processed and contaminated foods. With toxins cleaned out of your body, it allows for clearer thinking and remembering.

Not only are there physical and mental benefits to fasting and cleansing the body, there are spiritual benefits as well.  Since your subconscious mind is a transmitter and receiver of the universal consciousness, you must cultivate it properly in order to create the things in life you desire. As your body accumulates “junk” from this physical plane of existence, you are creating static and your transmitter/receiver cannot properly function. As you distance yourself from universal consciousness, you allow the collective consciousness to dictate and control your life. This is one reason most spiritual people incorporate fasting for spiritual health.

As you fast and improve the transmissions to the universal consciousness, you will notice your spiritual practices will be magnified. Meditations will grow stronger. Trips to the astral plane will come with ease. Lucid dreams will happen frequently almost without effort. These events occur because you are closer to the universal consciousness as you rid yourself of the toxic filth that surrounds you on a daily basis.

Initially, you may feel much more energy or fatigue.  You may also experience some ill effects such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, mental fogginess, etc.  Just remember, this is the beginning of the process and things will get better as you endure through.  If your body is heavily toxified, the ill effects could be stronger.

What to drink?

Drink throughout the day about 1 gallon of water.  You can add some apple cider vinegar or lemon to your water as these will help to detoxify and put your system back into a better pH balance.  Drink some hot herbal tea with no added sugar, honey, or other sweeteners.

Things to do while you are fasting:

Keep busy so your mind does not wander so much to the fact that you may be hungry.  The hunger pangs eventually subside.

Meditation is very important during this time.

Express gratitude for your body by giving it a break and allowing healing.

Contemplate your life – where you are at and where you want to be.

Are you on your right path?

Once your reevaluate your life, determine how you can change. Remember, this life on earth is temporary but you are here to expand your consciousness and learn from your experiences. Spiritual growth and development requires reflection and transformation.  Once this reflection is over, it is over. The only changes that can be addressed from this contemplation are in the present. Stay in the present and utilize this newfound perspective.

Breaking the fast

When breaking your fast, take it easy.  Eat light, soups with clear broth, light fruits, and still plenty of water or herbal teas.

I do encourage fasting, however, you are advised to check with a licensed health care provider before starting on such a program. Read the Disclaimer on this website.

Have a wonderful day, — Kathyann.
